    Squealing

How can I stop my 10 month old from squealing? I figure it's helping her language out and read somewhere that its a good sign but she has started to do this really high pitched noise like she is communicating to dogs. Very ear piercing and quite annoying.

I suppose it doesn't help that the house we are in echos a fair bit but was wondering if anybody had an helpful hints or tips to discourage too much of this...?

    Thanks

My DS is 2 this month and he squeals when he is excited, usually when he is playing with our 2 dogs. Very loud and painful to listen to.

Unfortunately I don't have any tips to help control it but I do sympathise!!

I reckon ignoring it is the way to go, because if it gets no reaction then it's obviously boring, so not really worth while. This is how I'm approaching it with my DS, who mostly squeals because he's happy, but it's ear piercing when he does, and whilst it hasn't stopped it, he doesn't do it to "impress" or to get attention, which I figure is a good start.

My daughter squeals, barks, screams, grunts, babbles - all at a very high pitch. But I let her go for it as its all about self discovery. Learning what their voices can do is important especially at this stage. But you will find once she discovers a new sound, she wont squeal as much. Good Luck

My son did the same thing for months on end (probably 9-16 months of age)...really high pitched and for no apparent reason... It was really annoying and ear piercing but he doesn't seem to do it any more...I don't even know when he stopped really... But I'm sure it will improve for you too, sooner or later! I think it's just their way of being heard...hehe...
