DD has just started to really get into hands - my hands in particular. So when I sing and do actions that she can see at the same time she really likes it, and it's one of the few things that gets her smiling at the moment.
The only songs with actions I can think of and do are eensy weensy spider and I'm a little teapot. I also do twinkle twinkle with some actions too. It would really help if I could remember some more, but I'm having trouble. Could anyone suggest other songs with actions I could do?
Eency Weensy spider
Beehive song (can only find videos of this as a nursery rhyme, but we have a tune for it...will think of a way to teach it to you. Can you read music by any chance?)
Heads and shoulders
We're going up
Row row row your boat
Twinkle twinkle
Row Row Row your boat (just sit DD on your lap facing you, hold hands and rock her back and forth)
Round and round the garden
The wheels on the bus
Heads & Shoulders (and Eyes & ears)
Those are the ones I sing and I'm getting bored with them. Time to learn some new ones I think
Der Glumph went the little green frog one day
Der Glumph went the little green frog
Der Glumph went the little green frog one day
Yeah, the frog went glumph, glumph, glumph
But......we all know frogs go
"clap" ladeedadeeda etc.
Thanks everyone! There's heaps of great suggestions there
I have been singing some of these songs, but don't know actions for them. I remember them all from playschool when I was young, but because we are in the UK I can't just switch playschool on and check out the actions that I've forgotten! I might have to check out some actions on the web.
But it's great, thanks very much as you've reminded me of one's that I do remember now like heads and shoulders, little peter rabbit, if you're happy and you know it, open shut them and round and round the garden.
We'll have heaps to be able to teach her now!
Nelle - I am music teacher so I can definitely read music and I'd be interested in hearing about the beehive song as well! Hehe, I should know more being a music teacher I guess!
Thanks again for all the suggestions - it's triggered my memory and given me some other one's to learn too.
