Ive looked at a jolly jumper but the reccomendation is 12 months. My MCHN said this is coz it teaches them to walk on their toes and they can have all sorts of problems.
Mia loves being upright. She always has. she will stand on the floor while i hold her hands for ever.. her legs are very very strong.
I am looking into getting her a jolly jumper but want some opinions on it first.
Also thinking about getting a walker or one that doesnt exactly move so when im doing housework she can play in that as she gets abit annoyed in her bouncer and just wants to stand up everywhere..
The Jolly Jumper instructions say that you can use them from 3 months of age as long as they have good neck control. I used ours when our boys were 4 months old and they loved it. Just make sure you position it so your DD's feet are flat on the floor and she's not on her tippy-toes and don't use it for long periods at a time. I used to use ours for up to 15 minutes at a time and only a few times a week. Neither of my boys have had any trouble with walking normally.
The walker that doesn't walk is called an exersaucer! They are fantastic, I used one for DS2 and it was a great way to entertain him when he was getting bored or gizzly. I highly recommend them! The only problem is that they are quite large and take up heaps of room and you have to store it somewhere when she's grown out of it. Something to consider
Hollye - I bought the jumping joey for bella and she is 6 months. It's pouch thingy is a lot higher and more supportive than the JJ - she loves it so much.
I did buy a walker, but the seat is way too shallow and Bella keeps falling forward and hitting her head on the toys. I did put her in a jumperoo at the baby store and the seat was really deep, so much better than the walker I have. So just a tip, buy one with a really deep seat.
I didn't bother with the walker, too unsafe IMO but I've seen them tip so i guess I am just paranoid!
MIL bought Jazz a Jumping joey one (same reason as Sue, higher seat thing so seems safer) with the stand, when Jazz was 6 months. That was fine by me as she had great head control. It has a 15kg weight limit on it (not sure what that 'age' is) but i can't imagine Jazz enjoying it once she is up and getting around on her own (but then, she's more of a 'get into everything' bub LOL). TBH I wouldn't bother buying one at 12 months (again, thats JMO).

ETA: yeah I only use it like maybe 3 times a week (I always forget I have it LOL) and only 10-20 minutes at a time, not too long.
Hollye- If you were closer you could have borrowed mine... DD has been using heres since 4 months and LOVES it. At the start they say only for short time i have a JJoey with a stand. Honestly at 12 months will they even use it... DD is 9 1/2 months and is walking round furniture and so close to taking her 1st unassisted steps... no way she'd want to be in there while she was walking... even now 5 mons and she hates not being able to move from that 1 spot.
I had a walker for DS cos we had lots of room and tiles- this time we have carpet and iw as worried bout tipping. He was fine with it. DD i have a Fisher price Lion walker. (like the kind bubs can sit on as a bike or push when there ready. She loves it.
We started with Jolly jumper at about 3 and a bit months. ersonally I find it a pain in the butt as we had to get one on a frame due to the fact that we have a door way with a step and all the rest are in bedrooms. So to move stand set it up put him in it etc for 10 mins and then put away was a pian.
What we do love is an exerscaucer that we have been lent by friends. they stand up in it jump aroudn and it has toys all aroudn it and they can turn around to different toys. He loves it and I by far reccomend these over JJ. As always set up you just sit them in it and all done!
My advise is that I am not keen on JJs that clip onto door frames. DS used one when he was a baby and sprung up against the door frame and hurt his head.
ilove the exersaucer - DS used it for AGES! i hired one from a toy libraryandit was sucha hit my mum bought him one. it is now in the garagewaiting for the next bub. itook sometoys off when he was little (think he was about 5 months) and then added when he got older. he used it til about 12 months (creeping around the outisde at the end andpressing toys etc)
