    thermometer

Can someone please recommend to me a decent thermometer? Now we have DD2, we realise the one we had for DD1 no longer works accurately. Thanks

I got a Braun ear one that Dr's use. Paid around $90 on special for it at the chemist and love it. Always accurate, never skipped a beat in 5 years we have had it and I love that I can sneak it and use it while they sleep.

I love my Braun ear one. When kids are sick I need I don't want to wait ages for the temperature.

We use the Braun ear one too, with three kids it's a lifesaver when they are asleep its easy to check their temp. It was worth the money.

Braun tympanic one as well cost be about $88 been great. Under the arm ones take way to long with a grumpy, sick wriggly child.

    Thanks all.

Anyone used an infrared forehead thermometer? Do they work?

I have the infared forehead thermometer, I wouldn't recommend them at all. It's always giving a different temperature, I don't think it's accurate at all. I can't remember the brand that I have, and not sure if it's just this brand or if they're all like that.

Yes agree. I wanted an ear thermometer but hubby got us a forehead infared and its not great.
In saying that we have had so many fevers here that it doesn't matter to us how accurate they are -within reason. Anything over 39 goes to the Dr. Fever med given depending on how the child is etc.
But would not buy another infared

I have a braun and love it.
My son runs fevers a lot and often very high so I like to be sure it's dropping after meds

We have infrared forehead one, it has been great, but can be off, I believe it needs to be calibrated, though the info states it doesn't need to be

I have a Braun one as well, but for under 6month old babies I find that their ear canals are too small for a tympanic thermometer to work accurately so I always have a digital under arm thermometer as well with a little bub.

Oh maybe that is why mine isn't working properly? DD2's ears are tiny tiny things. It gives us very odd temps, like 35.9 and she isn't cold, or 37.8 and she isn't hot.
