Rather than having his first vaccination at 2 months, my DS was 6 weeks when he had his first one (due to the whooping cough epidemic). So, because he had the first one early, does that mean he needs to have his next one a little earlier too? If so, I guess it would be about now (he's almost 3.5 months)?
I don't think you need to be exact about dates We get DD's done at the health clinic, so we have to wait for the immunisation day, meaning sometimes she's a bit late for one, but othertimes she'll probably be early. My MCHN said to try and get to as close to the recommended age as possible. So, I would just wait until he's four months to get the next ones.
Sterla, it should say in your Blue book what dates you can get him vaccinated after, the dates are important in that it must be a minimum of eight weeks between vax, but I don't think there is a maximum number of weeks.
Minimum time between immunisations should be maintained. Ideally, I wouldn't be giving any of them early, regardless of the pertussis epidemic. The recommended ages are there for a reason. I'm surprised your GP or MCHN suggested it.
We had the 6 week as well, highly recommended at this time due to the whooping cough outbreak and apparently their just waiting for guidelines to be changed to make it 6 weeks permanently.
I am going from 8 weeks from first vax for the next, as it's the whooping cough that needs to be maintained. I thought about waiting an extra 2 weeks, but it kind of defeats the purpose as one lot of vax isn't enough to cover them for WC anyway. So just to be safe I'll be going back at 14 weeks. xo
