    Toddler Obsessions

    DD currently has two obsessions:

    1. Winnie the Pooh. The FIRST thing she says when she wakes up is, "Pooh" (definitely with the 'h' LOL), then she has to go through the rest of them "Ti" (Tigger), "Roo", "Mama" "Ra" (Rabbit). This goes on all day long regardless of whether she's watching them or not.

    2. The slide at the playground. She was on it for an hour and a half the other day without stopping. I thought that might get it out of her system but no, another hour today. Just up the steps, down the slide and up the steps again. No wandering around to other parts of the playground, just up and down the slide. I'm not complaining though, she was completely worn out when she got home and had a big afternoon nap.

I think she might be developing another one though. DSD was watching Walk The Line (the Johnny Cash movie) this evening and DD went nutso dancing to the music. Started shouting "more, more" whenever a song finished.

    What's your toddler obsessed with?

    Cars.
    The Pixar movie one.

He has a Lightning McQueen plastic car that my mum gave him that is going to end up having to be surgically extracted from his clutches He sleeps with it. He hangs onto it in the bath. It goes everywhere and he has pretty much learned to do everything one-handed because that car is in the other one every minute his eyes are open.

He has Cars pyjamas that his FDC mum bought for him and we have to literally peel them off him with bribes to wash them. He has Cars singlets that must be worn on the outside of his clothes because otherwise he can't see them. Pixar's marketing department have made a fortune out of this child.

This has been going on for a year - we are thanking our lucky stars that Cars 2 isn't coming out for another year and a half because he will *have* to be sick of it by then...won't he??

MIssy E has developed a fixation with "reading" the latest myer toy catalogue. The whole process involves shrieking 'Mummy mummy mummy' while hitting me repeatedly to ensure that I'm as fully thrilled to see the toys as she is. Unfortunately the catalogue has many pages...

    1. Clocks- the ones with the face not the digital. DD looks out for them in the shops, books, peoples' houses even the little one on our water mains near the letterbox. Can you imagine when we saw a display of them in Ikea and when we go past jewellers who have thirty on the wall? She squeals so much with excitement that people turn to stare.
    2. Beads- rosary beads or anything remotely resembling necklaces or beads..
    3. Buttons- on clothing. Won't wear some items if she can't reach the buttons easily to play with. Walked around yesterday for an hour with her arm over her shoulder feeling the two buttons at the neck of her jumper.
    3. Rain, the sun, the moon.... (all day long...)
    4. The shower- apparently everyone is in the shower, nanna, dad, uncle, bubba etc etc
    5. Her 'fruff'- her toothbrush. Had to buy a second one that stays in the bathroom!

I could go on and on but these are her main ones...

    My toes. Seriously.

Every morning she runs into our room, throws the duvet off my feet and yells "hello little toes!!!" and ten proceeds to "play" with them, which usually ends when she tries to wrench them off ad i lose it and kick her (not literally!) out of the room for a bit...lol. She is totally obsessed and i am over it!

Bangles. As in bracelets, not the 70s girl group.

Singing. He will dictate to me what I'm singing "Wiggles snake not touch" or "Wiggles toot toot chugga chugga car" or "Wiggles monkey man" or "no Mammy, no sing now." OK he does let me do normal nursery rhymes, but he mostly wants Wiggles atm.

Cars, trains, planes... any vehicle really.

Cats. He adores them and they don't him. But he gets to pet one often enough for him to chase any cat he sees, meowing at it.

DS loves naming noses. He hits your nose, says "Mammy nose" (or whosoever's nose) then runs off again. Very random timings too.

In the winter, "moon and stars". He loves astronomy stuff. But it's too light in the summer for him to enjoy it.

Hairy McClairy, Lightning McQueen, any Matchbox toy, trucks, cars, Wiggles.

They are all serious OCD issues.

    Cars. Wheels. Shed. Tools.

Cars - He will sit in the drivers seat totally amused for hours. Last night I was trying to get him out of the shed & he hugged the car crying!

Wheels - will try to undo the bolts for ages. Likes to just stand there & hug them

Shed - If DH goes into the shed, DS will stand at the door & scream til he gets in. (Our garage off the loungeroom, lol) Problem is that DH is usually going in there for a smoke

Tools - Compressors etc. They are absolutely fascinating.

Oh & he barks & growls at everything, lol.

DD is obsessed with the carriage of her animal train, she'll push it around the whole house. Not interested in the train part or the toys that go in it though.
She's also obsessed with her giant Upsy Daisy and Iggle Piggle and will sit them on either side of her on her ITNG couch while watching ITNG.
She's also obsessed with riding on her ride-on toys or just pushing anything around the house.

Don't count on it!! Zander was one when it came out & now at four he is still completely obsessed! He doesn't want to watch the movie so much anymore, but he still loves his toys & if he gets a toy as a treat for something the first place he goes is to the Cars section.

Was feeding when I posted before and thought I should come back to mention that Noah's guitar obsession means that EVERYTHING is a guitar!

A ruler, a shampoo bottle, the buckle in his carseat (he actually strums in time with the radio or cd), an empty box, the nail clipper, he plays Spencer like a guitar when he holds him and constantly grabs his arm and plays it like a guitar, he plays air guitar...getting the picture yet?? lol
