    I have a BITER!

Yep I have a biter. She is 16 months old and so far is just biting me, DH and herself! If anyone has any tips it would be great..she really hurts and I don't want her to start with other kids. We try to ignore it becuase she laughs when we react.
I hope she grows out of it soon!

We have a similar situation here too Ezy. Although she doesn't hurt. Any time she gets frustrated she gives us a nip. Funnily enough she just touches her teeth to us then stops. She thinks its funny if we react too. Hoping someone has some tips to help us too

Our boy's been a horrid, horrid biter. We tried everything - time outs, ignoring him, giving the bitten person heaps of attention. Then tried some other methods - biting him.

None of that worked, it wasn't until we did an "anti-star chart" thing that it got under control - we'd drop him off at CC and draw a train next to his name. If he bit or pinched that day, it would be rubbed off and he'd not be allowed to play with trains that night. That really got it through to him.

With DS it was mostly a frustration thing - he'd not be able to communicate so he'd bite.

the CCC also taught him & the other kids to say "STOP" or put up their hand if any kid was doing a not-wanted activity - when DS learnt how to do that, the biting also dramatically decreased.

Good luck - and feel free to cry here if you want, cause it's the most horrid thing when your child bites.

Yes, the biting thing is happening here again too. With DS, it's worse when he's tired, frustrated or told no. Last night he grabbed the chair cushion and bit it really hard. Glad it wasn't me! Also scratching, pinching and swipes at my face to knock off my glasses if I'm carrying him. I've been taking him straight to bed, or home if we're out, if possible, when it happens. I'm hoping that it's a phase that passes quickly!

DS was doing a terrible biter recently especially while he was cutting 4 molars at the same time! I tried time outs, firm "No!'s", ignoring him, getting up and walking away, putting his own hand to his mouth if I was quick enough to anticipate a bite. None of that worked and in the end I bought an amber teething necklace which did the trick for us. He stopped biting within a day of wearing the necklace. I guess it was just the molars which were making him bite and the necklace helped with that.

Thanks girls its nice to know I'm not the only one! Esp from my baby buddies!! Eluned DD has had a teething necklace for about a year now we both do they are great aren't they! I thinks its a frustration thing. I sometimes get the urge to bite really hard maybe she gets it from me???
