    Top lip & gum attachment

Just wondering if this is normal - the attachment between Kynan's top lip and gum (I'm not sure what it's called!) seems quite pronounced. It seems to go from right under his top lip, down his gum and between his front teeth (it causes a little gap between them). I always figured it'd move as he got older because I know I certainly don't have the same thing but it hasn't changed at all. So is it a normal baby thing or something that's just a bit different in Kynan? It won't cause any problems with speech development or whatever will it?

    Thanks Shannon & Fletch!

The gap between Kynan's front teeth isn't very big, just a little at the top. Actually I was looking at it again last night and his teeth almost seem to be squishing the flap of skin between them!

Hmm, maybe it's why Kynan's doesn't really like it when I try and get the toothbrush between his top lip and teeth?!

Yeah, I'll have to ask next month when he has his 18m check (OMG Kynan & Jess will be 18m soon!!). Poor Kynan - he'll scream his head off if they actually want to have a look in his mouth LOL.

I dont' think mine's the same thing, but the dentist said to close the gap in my teeth I could have it removed (I'm assuming a specialist does it.. not the dentist himself), but we ended up just capping my teeth to fill the gap, coz I have such small teeth anyway

Just thought I'd update - I got the GP to have a look when I took Kynan for his 18m needles (figured he was going to have his mouth open and crying anyway LOL) and the GP confirmed he has an oversized frenulum but that it shouldn't really cause any problems and may even rectify itself in time. He said doing anything about it would probably cause Kynan more trauma than it was worth.
