Question Transition from grobag to blankets

I'd like to hear your stories on how you transitioned from grobags to blankets.

My DS will be doing this very soon (he's almost bursting out of the biggest bags) and the bag is such a pivotal part of his routine, I'm not sure what to consider.

    Thanks in advance!

When dd moved to the toddler bed it just became part if the transition. To start with she was falling asleep on the floor in front of the toddler gate anyway, so we would just put her into bed and tuck her in later.
Not sure how ds is going to go though, since he will be moving into her bottom bunk. I have a feeling his transition won't be so smooth.
    Good luck!

DD has recently started using sheets/blanket instead of a grobag. I think I just went cold turkey on her..lol. But I could tell she was starting to get annoyed with it, although it might have been because it was getting too small for her, and she was really restless during the night and kicking her legs around an awful lot.
I've never used a grobag during her day sleeps, so one night decided to try using sheets and see if that made her sleep any better. I don't think the transition worried her too much, but then I don't think she was that attached to her grobag although it was a good tool for sleep association.
    Sorry, probably wasn't much help!

I found that summer was the best time for this with DD1 as she was getting too hot anyway - unfortunately this year has been really cold so I am not able to do the same with DD2!! With DD1 she got shortie pyjamas for Christmas and started wearing them instead to be a "big girl"

I have no experience, but could you give him the grobag like a blankie? That way it's still in the routine but he's not actually in it.

Thanks for the suggestions! Fiona - I don't think that would work as he would get frustrated by not being in it. But good thought!

Nai - yeah, I'm waiting for the heat to kick in too!

LittleLara - I'm thinking a 'special' blankie might help - kind of what you did (but with a bed!).

SS - all stories are helpful! thanks!

    Keep your stories coming...
