My DD1 is the most finniky fussy eater. We have to set goals to get things like carrots into her, tomatoes etc... luckily I am a bit nutrition researcher on the side and like to provide as balanced diets as I possibly can. But Matilda generally reverts back to the 6 things she will eat. She's done this since she was 2 yrs old.
We've expanded but I've had heaps of issues with her iron intake. She's got low iron so I've tried tonics and multivitamens to no avail.
We eat tofu regularly and I don't think I've even bothered offering it to her before. But she asked for "some of the spongy potato in your stir fry" So I gave her some... she loved it! She ate a very good amount and her required number of carrots and sauce (we blend up spinach & put it in our stir fry sauce to trick her).
So my tip is tofu. When you next order thai food (if you do) I recommend Tofu Tod.... its deep fried tofu with dipping sauce and if you aren't able to do something like that at home its a fantastic snack.
I'm having good success and its usually when I do give DS something I didn't think he would like!!
He loves tuna and salmon, I just can't believe it! He loves the tuna pasta bake and will eat both out of the can. Also roast meats, I think its because he watches daddy vacuum down a roast - he calls it "meatness".
