What's the going rate for babysitters?

My sister has a 3 year old and is wondering what the going rate is for babysitters? She understands that the $5 an hour she used to get when she babysat probably isn't going to cover it these days

2 years ago I was paying $10 per hour whilst awake. This yea,r by someone else, I was quoted $20 per hour. Both women were qualified childcare workers.

Depends on the age of babysitter. I had a teenage girl (16yrs) babysit my 3kids. She had to put the two boys (8 and 5) to bed and DD(2) was already in bed. We paid her $10 per hour. The Carer's at the Creche DD goes to charge $20 per hour.

I pay a uni student $16 per hour before midnight, $20 per hour after.
