Question What does your toddler drink?

my 16 month old dd has only tasted milk and water.... she doesn't actually know other drinks exist (except for seeing cups of teas and soft drinks, she hasn't actually tasted them)...

a relative of mine seemed quite surprised she had only had water.... i've never thought to give her anything else.... not sure what her options are - juice is so full of sugar (natural, but completely full of it nonetheless)....

It has only just occured to me that dd wouldn't know what to do with a prima, haha.

What do you toddlers drink? Is it odd that mine only drinks water?

Isabelle is almost 15 mths old and is the same. Juice, as you said is full of sugar, and really, there is no need for them to have anything other than milk and water. We will be holding off from giving her any juice or other drinks for as long as possible as they really aren't needed in her diet! Take heart! Also, Iz is a HUGE water drinker- she sips on it all day long and has big drinks from it when having her meals too. Loves it!

DD is 18mths and has only ever had milk & water too! She has never had lollies or chocolate either, and people always seem to be trying to feed her all kinds of stuff... it really bugs me!
Keep them away from all the nasties for as long as possible I say

No! Not really. Water, milk, water with a splash of juice, sips of my tea if he's bugging me. And he's almost 2.

DS is 5.7yrs old and still has just water and milk (rice milk is his fav), occaisionally since he was about 2yrs, he has a weak milo/hot choc and 100% fruit juice watered down. And he is allowed (since he was about 4.5yrs) to have a flav. milk if he gets a happy meal or out at a cafe etc. lol - sound like meanies, dont we?!

Recently he has asked to try beer or fizzy drinks if we have some, but he dosent like them, so I think YIPPEEE - thats good! Hopefully the depriving is responsible for that

The coffee thing is funny, when DS was 2.5yrs, DH misunderstood my instructions to make DS a 'coffee', meaning a warm milk with bit of spice and honey in it like what my mum had recently given DS to pretend he was like us grown ups.
DH made DS a drink and DS drank it all up. 5 mins later DS just went NUTS, crazy, silly,hyper....it took me a moment and then I realised and DH confirmed when I asked him, he had actually made DS a milky coffee!!!!

Another one here who's only had water or milk, so you are not alone. I figure that until he's old enough to realise that there are things like juice & cordial out there, I have no reason to introduce them. Hopefully it's a year or so away. And even when he does realise, they'll be "treats", rather than a standard offering for us. I don't think I'm being mean, I think that I'm being nutritionally kind.
