Question what does heat rash look like??

    Hi.

What does heatrash look like and how long does it last????

Charlie has a rash down his back and i was thinking it was heat rash - he was sitting in his car seat for 4 hours yesterday so i thought he might have got a bit hot.

His rash is just like little red dots - but has the feeling of ecsma if you run your hand over it.

    Thanks heaps

    Jac

    Hi Jac,
My little man got a really bad case of heat rash over the Christmas break and it was all over him!!!.... its like a *****ly heat rash... its red and spotty and feels a bit bumpy.
Jacob got his as we were away much longer than expected and he didnt get his baths as regulary as we do at home and we ran out of his baby bath stuff towards the end.... I found a nice bath with is baby bath stuff every morning and a light scrub with a flannel got rid of it after about 2 or 3 days... he also had a shower with Dad every night too and that was without any soaps.
His skin was back to normal (smooth as a babies bum!!) within a few days

    Hope that helps
    xo

Apparently the difference between heat rash (surface rash) and something more serious (a deeper rash) is when you rub your hand over it it goes white for a moment. That's what the DR said when DD developed a spotty rash all over her torso, turned out to be heat rash!

    Cornflour powder is very good!

No just plain cornflour - it's sort of silky and soft and quite soothing. You can either use commercial cornflour (just rub it on) or get the baby powder cornflour (has fragrance in but seems to be a finer grind). This is particularly good for sweaty P rickly heat rash.

Of course, if DS has an allergy to wheat, you would steer clear of this!

Yeah Josh gets this also and it seems to be a heat rash. You described it well!
