What would you do in this situation??

Normally in the evening DD will wake from her last nap of the day, we feed, do bath then dress for bed and night nappy, then either straight to bed or read a story, sing a lullaby or something then down for the night. She's generally down by 7pm, or thereabouts.

Today she woke from a nap at about 4.30pm, I thought great, one more sleep before bedtime, should work well. She played, fed, then started grizzling at about 5.30 (we were at my BIL's house), so we threw her in the car, came home, she's asleep. Woke up in being transferred into the house so we left her to see if she'd go back to sleep but she didn't, so I rocked her back to sleep at about 6.15pm.

    Then she stayed asleep.

I had booked in to see my friend beauty therapist at 8pm, had to leave at about quarter to eight. 7.30pm comes and she's still sleeping. Told my therapist I'd be a bit late (works from home, no drama), still sleeping. She stirred at about 8pm, so I quickly got her up and fed her and gave her to DH. He was going to bath her and put her back down.

I get home at about 10pm and she's still sleeping - in her clothes, no night nappy. DH says she went back to sleep and he didn't want to wake her

    What would you do??

Let her sleep, risk wetting through the nappy (and ignore the fact that she's sleeping in her pretty day clothes)?

    Or wake and change???

I just did not know what to do!

I'd let her sleep. Although, it depends how long does she sleep for overnight? If she's still only have short sleeps and waking through the night, just change her when she next wakes up.

When DS was a newborn, I'd just let him sleep through in whatever he was in as I knew he'd wake up a couple hours later. Now as he sleeps through the night from 7pm to 7am...if he falls asleep and he's not in his PJ's or needs a nappy change, I'll change him. Sometimes he stays asleep while I change him!

That's the thing, it could have been another two-three-more hours til she woke. She's not sleeping the greatest overnight but knowing my luck, she would have decided to sleep for 8hrs or more tonight! AND her last nappy change was about 4.30pm so at this stage she'd already been in the nappy for six hours!

Try not to stress OP I am sure if the wet nappy is bothering her, she'll let you know!

OP - Miss J can sleep for up to 9 hours in her cloth nappy. Although she is wet when she wakes it doesn't bother her and if it does she wakes and lets me know. Personally, I would let her sleep - my motto is not to wake a sleeping baby if it can be avoided

My goodness Nai - what type is it???

I am sure DD's wet nappy wakes her sometimes... she is soooo wet and sometimes, weirdly, the nappy gets cold. Dunno how...

definitely let her sleep and maybe next time change her into night clothes earlier. as long as she's warm though it doesn't matter what she wears to bed. xo
