    What is wrong with her?

I need help trying to work out what is wrong with DD2. The last few days when she has her bottle she has been arching her back, kicking her feet and screaming like she is in pain. She hasn't finished a bottle for 2 days and that is VERY unlike my little guzzle guts!

She is also very flegmy (sp?) and has a runny nose and sneezes. I'm giving her Demazin for that. Also her cheeks are bright red which make me think it's her teeth so i'm giving her Bonjella.

Finally she is pooing heaps too, not diorreah though. Yesterday she did 5 poos (normally it's once a day).

Does anyone have any ideas? I can handle all of it but the feeding is really hard. Do you think her gums could hurt more when she is drinking?

    Help!!!

It is so hard when they cant' talk! It may be teeth and a cold together. How is her sleeping and temp? Is it the same as normal. If you are unsure take a visit to the Doctors - if nothing else they will check her out and it will give you peace of mind. If she's flemy then it could be a cold - I wouldn't use the Demazin for too long a period though . Check the box and see what the instructions recommend.

Rachael. It is so difficult when they can't tell us - isn't it?

She might be behaving like that when she is eating because she is frustrated. Does she have a blocked nose at all? Or she may have a sore throat which is hurting whilst she feeds.
The altered bowel motions could very well be a results of her phlem. Little ones can find it difficult to cough it up and so usually swallow it. This can make them throw up (like my DD does) or it might be excreted in poo - often altering their bowel patterns.

If a cold goes longer than a week you should get it checked by the doctor to make sure it is just a cold. Especially if you are using stuff like Demazin or Panadol for symptomatic treatment.

HTH and I hope your little one feels better soon.

Thanks guys, her sleeping is fine - even better during the day as she usually sleeps for half an hour and it's about 1.5 hours at the moment. Night times are fine. She had a slight temp of 37.2 yesterday but nothing today.

I'm thinking that it might be a blocked nose that only irks her when she's feeding but she screams like she's in pain it's just heartbreaking

She drank her evening bottle and now she's asleep so fingers crossed we'll have a good night.

DS has his friend staying the night so they are running around like crazy things and i'm chasing them sshhing them as they go! Bring on Friday Night Live for some peace and quiet!

Just took her to the Dr. She keeps throwing up all the flegm and is so miserable. Our Dr was closed so I took her to the crappy one around the corner. We were in there less than 5 mins, he listened to her chest and said it was fine even though I could hear all the liquid in there. He said keep giving her panadol and Demazin and come back if she's not better by Tues!

    Hi!

Keep an eye on her cos nikki from the forums kept taking her boy to the dr's - he had a cough though - and they kept saying he was ok and it went on and on and it turns out he had pneumonia and needed antibiotics!!!! Stupid dr's...
Hopefully thats not the case with your little girl though and she gets better very soon!!

I was going to say the same thing Kris - one of my friends was told the same by their doc and his little girl ended up with pnemonia.
Having said that, Rachael - the fact she is throwing up the phlem is a good thing. This means her body is getting rid of it and it isn't sitting on the chest. It is when things sit on the chest too long that complications occur. How long has the cold been going on now? If she is still throwing up Monday - I would go back to the doc (make an appointment now and then cancel it if you don't need it). If at any time over the weekend you feel it is getting worse - go back. You will hear the gunk on her chest because it is there at the moment. It should clear up though. They will be reluctant to prescribe antibiotics because his body is shifting the phlem on its own at the moment.

    HTH and hang in there.

She is better today but still throwing up, not alot, maybe twice a day. She is just sooo cranky, she doesn't want to lie down, sit up, be cuddled...aaaaghhhhhh!

DD1 had Pnemonia just before her 1st birthday. It was horrible and she spent a week in hospital so at least I know what to look for this time.

Stupidly I let DH take my car to work this morning forgetting that his is a manual which I can't drive so we can't go to the Dr and we've just run out of Demazin!

Oh well, she's definatly improved which is positive.

    Thanks for all the advice.

Good to hear she is a litte better today Rachael. Hang in there - you are doing a wonderful job. It is so hard when they don't know what they want, isn't it? My DD was like that after her shots on Sat... Hold me, don't hold me, put me on the floor, pick me up, feed me, get it out of my face...
