when to offer food after bubs has had gastro

Charlotte has had gastro, so she has not been having solids since friday, she is still vomiting but only tiny amounts every now and again, not as much as she was doing, I rang my MCHN and she said that I could offer it to her when she wants it. Also what sort of foods should i start her off too.

    thank you

Start her off on very bland food, as anything a bit richer could upset her tummy again and it will feel a bit delicate for her anyway after all the vomiting kwim? Don't force her to eat, as she might still associate food with being sick and might refuse you. What I always found worked best was just leave little plates of food around the place (buttered toast fingers with a smear of vegemite) if she is mobile and let her chose when and how much she wants to eat. Or sit her on the floor with some food and she can eat if she wants it or she will move away.

    Kelly,
Eliza was admitted to hospital when she got gastro for 2 weeks as she had dropped so much weight and couldnt keep fluids down. When she started to show interest in food we started her on toast and dry biscuits. Vegetables and fruits she was ok with too. Just take it slowly and be led by her.
I hope Charlotte is on the mend
