7 month terrible sleep no solids HELP!

    Hi Everyone,

I am at my wits end and just praying some one out there will have some advice. My 7 month old has reflux and I've emailed the reflux forum several times. On a good night he
was waking maybe 3 times and I could cope with that. When he waked it was relatively easy to get him back to sleep but a lot of times I had to breastfeed him.Hes had lots of
sickness the last few weeks vomiting, colds and an ear infection so I put it down to that the fact he was waking every hour and a half.He also had 2 nights last week of being out in a relations house after his bedtime but he did sleep in his buggy. The problem now is that his sleeping is so bad.At 6.30 he had a big bottle given by his dad and most times he falls asleep straight afterwards and goes down in his cot easy. But the last few night half and hour later he wakes, sometimes its wind but other times I have no idea.Last night my husband got him back to sleep but sitting in the rocking chair. Then approx 2 hours later hes awake again. This time I feed him but when I try to put him back hes flaying his arms around, crying and screaming ,he has his eyes closed and hes really tired.Hes just so uncomfortable and miserable and its awful to see.Usually after a while I can get him back to sleep by sitting on the chair again and singing but its a real struggle. Then a lot of times I go to put him back in the cot and he wakes crying so I have to start all over again! Then 2 hours later it starts all over again. Some nights I am just so tired I feed him in bed on my side and hope and pray he falls alseep.I just don't know whats wrong with him.is is hunger, wind, reflux(but he doesn't act they way he used to when he did have reflux)is he too hot as its been very hot here recently or is it habit.I really don't think its habit and hes clearly uncomfortable.Hes on Losec for the reflux. The thing is during the day hes the best boy ever no problems at all and the annoying thing is people keep commenting on that like I am making it all up the way he is at night.I am just at a dead end.
The other issue is because of his reflux so far hes only had pear puree. He has 3 teaspoons in the morning 3 in the evening. Is that far too little??Whats the normal amount a 7 mth should be having?I do feel as well maybe the breastmilk just doesn't do the trick anymore as sometime I feed him well and half an hour later he drinks a big bottle. The specialist suggested we try avocado and peach and some custard made with formula but we were waiting until he was over all his sickness before we started.
Sorry for the long email I just don't know what to do anymore.I was hoping to go back to work part time but just can't until he is sorted.

    Hi Irishconn,

Big ! It is so hard if they can't sleep. I can't offer much advise, but it seems that a lot of bubs go through an unsettled sleeping stage somewhere after 6 months. My DS was the same and has only recently started to sleep better overnight (sorry, not something you want to hear). Before that he would wake up sometimes hourly either in the early evening or after 12. I was lucky because most of the time he would self settle after a couple of minutes. It seem to have to do with the fact that he was getting more mobile (rolling and then crawling/pulling up) and starting on solids. There are a couple of threads on this somewhere.... can't remember where... Hope it will improve soon! Big

    hi darl,

I'm so sorry to hear that for you and your bubba. I found that when my DS is full he sleeps right through the night. My DS is now 9 months and is up to three solid during the day. ( Solids meaning: three whole jars of baby food or mashed vegies that i boil myself) He will also eat what ever me or my DH will be eating but just slightly like: Some bread from our sandwiches or chicken, things like that. My son has always been a big eater so by the time he was 7 months he was eating 2 solids( full jars) perday with juice and breastmilk. Maybe you could try adding an extra meal say like golden veggies mash my son loved it!!!!!! still does. You could also try seeing if your bubba will eat more than three teaspoons. I remember thinking thats way too much to feed him the whole jar but he seemed happier after he ate the whole thing. And he slept better. I also noticed sometimes eating alot of fruit puree gave him acid, So maybe try custards, veggies, or just plain Farex. You can buy it from coles. Its baby porridge.

My cousin had problems with her son with colic and teething and tried herbal remedies and special formula for babies with colic. I hope you both find a happy solution. Good luck Darl im Rootin for ya.

My sons teething so i know what its like having an upset bubba and not being able to do much for them. Just broke my heart.
