Why does she hate her cot??

Ok, help me figure this out!!

DD hates her cot!! She wakes up at least 3 times a night!!

Over the holidays we've been away a couple of times. First to sydney for 5 days where she slept in a portacot. When we were there she sometimes only woke once!! And at most twice!! It was bliss!!!! lol. I thought maybe it was just to do with daylight savings or something.

Then we came home, crap sleep again.

Then we went away to my Mum's for a week and she slept in her portacot (most uncomfy looking thing ever!! Big lump in it!!). But she slept better than at home! 2 wakeups, sometimes 3, but slept in later and slept for longer.

Now we're home and we've had 2 hourly wakups!!!! I think she's getting 2 more teeth but she still never sleeps good here anyway.

What is going on?? I need some ideas! I have no clue.

I have thought maybe it's coz in a portacot the sides are soft so if she runs into it she doesn't wake up?? Or maybe bc she's closer to our bed in her cot at home, maybe we're waking her?? That's all I can come up with.

She's not in a draft, or have light shining on her?

My DS is the other way round, will sleep in a cot (although he is in a toddler bed now) but would wake up every 1/2 hr or so at my Mums where he slept in a port-a-cot. She now puts him on the spare bed and no issues whatsoever.

If you think it might be you waking her up, maybe try moving her cot away from you to another room or outside the door to see if that helps?

    No draft or light.
I'm not ready to move her to her own room, it's too far from ours. I would get no sleep worrying! lol. It's a bit too light right outside our room too. I think I might try and rearrange our room on the w/e so she's at the end of our bed instead of next to it.

No answers for you, but my DS is the same. He always seems to sleep better away from home in his portacot .

    Hi Heaven
I am not sure but this may help...
DS liked his cot anyway cause he could spread out, but was getting chubby arms and legs caught in the rails... we bought an 'airwrap'. It is basically a cot bumper but you can breathe through it very easily. So if bubs squishes her face into it no worries there, she can still breathe. I noticed DS was getting bumped about a bit before we had it and now it cusions little knocks and everything. I think all those little knocks on the wood were waking him up too. I am a huge fan and worth a try. It also makes the cot seemed a little more 'enclosed' simlar to the portacot so maybe that would help your DS too? I got mine from Toys R Us $39. it was really worth it. Also, we weren't ready to move DS either so he is in our room too. I really hope it settles down for you soon

Wish I had an answer for you, but I have been thinking about starting a very similar thread.

DS sleeps with me so it's not so bad, but DH is taking his cot out of our room today because he just won't sleep in it.
Same as your DD he hit's the side because he's such an acrobat and wakes up.
It's so bad that we have a trundle bed (ie low to the gorund) and I'm seriously contemplating just putting a bedrail on that and letting him sleep there. He sleeps so well on a 'big' bed.
