    Breastfed babies don't get constipated.

Well what about once they start solids?
I'm pretty sure Harlee is constipated. She eats not much. Maybe a half teaspoon of food all day.
I think she is constipated because when she poos.. She cries.. She strains so much and her poo is dry and sticky.
Her nappy was off the other day and she had a bit more poop in her. So I knew that she was crying because it hurt. We gave her prunes-well a bit of one and she managed to have a slightly softer explosive poo in the morning.
I feel so bad. She its in pain, she farts and she does not giggle at them anymore, she sobs.

She has been eating apple, cucumber, bread, rusk sticks, tomato and lots of boobie milk
Is she constipated or is it possible it is something more? I'm so worried as I have issues with my bowels and so does my mum, and maybe she has that too?

It will take her body awhile to adjust to a solid diet. Breastmilk is so easy to digest that it's not unusual for breastfed babies to become constipated when they start solids (well, I think so anyway). Do you offer her any water with her solids?

If you suspect she's constipated again, some diluted prune juice or brown sugar in water can help. Oh, and pears are great too...I usually keep some jars of pureed pear in the cupboard, just in case.

White bread can cause constipation. You could try bicycling her legs if she seems constipated with a little tummy massage.

Yes, it's probably the solids. She may be constipated, or her response may be a reaction to the different sensation now.
I know she's not having much, but maybe wind back the solids, do it one thing at a time and see what causes a reaction and what seems to be ok...?

Madb.. We have thought of doing that, yesterday all she had was steamed apple, probably the same today as she hasn't had anything still.
    Thanks for the responses.
