Does your toddler have a day? After another IRRATIONAL conversation with my mother (that's a totally different thread but i wouldn't know where to start) Apparently im in the wrong for giving dd a bath in the morning and a bath at night. Not everyday, mind you. Only some days. I only do it because a) it's cold, so i give her a warm bath after she's had breaky and b) because she's usually got a really full nappy in the morning, considering it's been on half the night. And then she has her bath at night because well, she's been running around and playing in god knows what all day lol... So.. Just curious how many baths/showers does your toddler have a day? And by giving them more than one bath are you damaging the natural oils in their skin, like I have been lectured on.
We used to do a bath at night but most of the time they had to have 2 baths a day. They just got so grubby! I also used to chuck them in the bath if they were grumpy, it used to soothe them.
J has a bath nearly every night. She has very dry skin & it gets worse when she has a bath every day so there is no way she could have two in a day on an ongoing basis. That said, as she starts walking more & when the weather warms up she will have a bath every day, like her brother does. If she gets dirty & I don't want to bath her that night she gets a wash down with a washer.
We bath Ds very night as part of his night time routine! Gives him a chance to wind down a bit! Well after all the splashing lol! We use Gaia products and havent had any skin problems?
But all babies are different! Just do what is right for you
DD has a shower in the morning with Daddy and a bath in the evening. She loves having a shower with the Bear even if she doesn't necessarily 'need' it (although after breakfast she can usually use a hose-down) and if I try to skip the bath at night I get grabbed by the hand and led down the corridor to the bathroom! Sometimes I think twice a day is a bit of overkill but I don't use much soap, so she is just getting wet. If you don't use much soap then I don't see how you are going to damage the natural oils in her skin
We are once a day here usually, unless DS decides he wants to jump in daddy's shower as well.
if you're concerned about drying out her skin.. just make one bath plain water. Bubble baths and/or cleansing washes will strip the skin. If you have a good natural wash, or a good natural moisturiser you can lather on afterwards it wouldn't be too bad.
You'd soon know yourself if it's affecting her skin tho.
