Bed safety rails- anyone have one??

I'm trying to get one second hand as I know they are not used for a long time, so I'm wondering does anyone know of any sites I could look at- I've tried Gumtree and Ebay but nothing there. OR stores as well that have second hand stuff?? I'm near the Gold Coast.

Lastly if you have one that you're no longer using that would be great too...

    Not very patient are ya?

I never bothered with one. Just put pillows on the floor for JIC and with 3 kids so far haven't had one fall out of bed!

I never had one either. I didn't even bother with pillows. It's not that far to fall - both mine have fallen further during the day from couches or places they've climbed.

Let's just say that they only fall out once... each...

Really do you guys think he would be ok at his age, I know I'm starting the transition early that's why I wanted one.

We are making him a fire engine bed which has edges anyway, but that is still about 6 weeks away so I wanted to do a bit a slow transition thing by taking the side rail off the cot...

If the fire engine bed is bigger and has edges I wouldn't worry about a transition period. It sounds like bub won't fall out of the new bed (or is unlikely to), but might fall out of the cot because he's used to having sides.

Having said that, as the others have said, a fall out of bed is not really going to hurt them, especially if you have a pillow or two around to break their fall. I remember when mine moved to his big bed I couldn't keep him in bed anyway, he would be out and in and out and in and sometimes I'd pop my head in and find him asleep on the floor anyway. It's good you're doing this in the warmer weather, where it doesn't really matter if his blankets don't make it to the floor with him!
