Eyes closed and red skin

My bub is 2.5 weeks old and seems to have his eyes shut alot. He will open them and look around and sit etc, but he prefers to eat and sleep *(he eats ALOT and sleep can be quite unsettled, but he still has eyes closed most of the time). Im just wondering if this is normal. I had two others but they were alert from the word go.
Also his skin is still quite red, just wondered if this was normal? I haven't seen my Early childhood nurse yet (next monday) so haven't had anyone to ask.

I'm not sure, my bub was alert fron day 1 too, hopefully your mchn will be able to help you.
