Question HELP - 6 week old won't settle

My son will be 6 weeks old tomorrow and in the last week, has turned difficult. He seems to cry continuously unless he is feeding or sleeping. The only thing that settles him is me rocking the bouncer (and this does not work all the time).

Also, he sleeps for about 6 hours overnight which is great BUT won't go to bed until late. Last night it was after midnight. I know that many will think this is fantastic but I'm one of those people that needs at least 8 hours sleep to function normally. The 6 hours is all I get as then DS1 wakes up while DS2 goes back to sleep. They also have only ever had a nap once at the same time so I can't sleep during the day.

He has been a little clingy since birth but I was coping fine with that. However, the crying is now affecting my eldest as most of my attention is either focused on settling (or trying to shut up) DS2 or I am comatose from tiredness.

Any tips? Even comments about how it is a phase would be appreciated.

If the above does not make sense, blame tiredness!

Hi CR !! I soooo sympathise with you. I remember going through the same thing with my DS when he was about the same age. I think they go through a growth spurt at about 6 weeks??? Could he still be hungry? I guess as well as parents establishing a routine they are trying to do the same thing.

The best thing I found for grumpy bubs is a warm bath - that is my best tip!

I look forward to seeing how you go and hope you get some good sleep soon!
