Is it normal for my baby to shake his head from side to side

Please help me out. My son just turned 5 months and has started shaking his head vigorously from side to side.
My husband and I are getting very worried, we were hoping it isnt a medical problem or brain condition.

Has anyone else experienced this at all???

Is it normal? Im really stressing, Im so worried he may have a mental disorder or something? It looks like its giving him a headache...He shakes it really quickly, and wont stop til I hold my hands up to the side of his face.

My friends little girl does it and she's nearly 3. She does it as a self soothing thingy when she's tired

Haha, I started the exact same thread almost 2 years ago when my DS2 was 5 months old . It's here if you want to read it: https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...-his-head.html

Just wanted to let you know that it is indeed normal and DS2 eventually stopped doing it
