Unhappy Ok, so I have a screamer

The time has come for me to admit that I have a screamer and I need some help My beautiful, placid little girl has been told by some evil toddler fairy that now she is two, she has to start chucking the mother of all temper tantrums in the most inconvenient places.

Crying I can handle, but she screams - and I don't mean a frustrated Aaaggghhhhhhh, I mean deep breath in, blood curdling screams like she is being murdered! She does it at home all the time (I have no idea what the neighbours think but i'm surprised DOCS haven't been called) I have tried putting her in her old cot for "time out" but now she can climb out, I have tried huggin her but she slaps and kicks me, i've tried ignoring her but it doesn't stop.

Now her daycare days have changed and I have to do the grocery shopping with her and it's a nightmare. As soon as she can't have something she wants she starts screaming and throwing things or smacking me and kicking. I just don't know what to do.

Anything can set it off, sometimes I don't even know why she's upset. I know a lot of it is frustration.

Please can anyone give me any stratergies (sp?!) to handle her? At least tell me it's just a phase...please!

Thats interesting, I never thought it could have anything to do with food. I'm not feeding her anything different, can kids suddenly become intolerent of something?

    I'll check that out, thanks!

ETA she did it in the gym today, so embarrassing. The childcare lady told me to turn my back which we did and she screamed for about 1 minute then stopped. As we were leaving we walked past my friends office and I asked her if she could hear her and she said "hon, I think the whole gym heard" So embarrassing!

I dont know but a friend said had he had anything different int he 2months since behavior started and well I had become a bit laxed with what he ate a bit more junk food he was allowed cordial etc, so we elimated anything he had started having since xmas and took notice of the ingredients found that a lot had those preservatives so we re-added what didn't and eh is back to being Jack

who would have thought something as simple as a small 90% juice cordial could alter a childs personality from angel to devil so drastically

hmmmm..I think im gonna have this trouble with Mateauz he's also a hitter and I find that very embarrassing

I dont let my kids have anything artifical cause it triggers Wilhelms moods ect so am VERY careful with all their diets.

Jed and I have said we are going to invest in a gag and some hand cuffs cause I just dont know what to do either...hiding under a rock sounds good to me atm.

I have found foods to be very important with regards to temperment. If I get lax at all with my DD's diets, I either get bloody curtling screaming for 6-8 hours a day, or violent diarrhoea. Its painful for everyone. Certain things set either child off. If DD2 gets too many salicalytes in her diet she gets horrible diarrhoea, this is in avocados, bananas and tomatoes... so not even "bad" foods. For DD1 its most additives and chemicals that she reacts to behaviourally. BUT I found that even freshly squeezed apple juice sets her off. Any form of apple juice has serious behavioural side effects. She could drink a whole litre of limonaide and be fine... but give her 1/2 cup of apple juice and she is a mess.

Have a look into elimination diets or google Sue Dengate or Fail safe diets. Its all about behaviour & diets.
