Hi i have a one year old who will not wear shoes or socks its near impossible to get them on him and as soon as there on he pulls them off or cry's till i take them off any idea's?
what about some really soft slippers to practice inside? Or maybe some socks with bells sewn on? Or how about some of those sneakers that light up? Just some incentive to keep them on IYKWIM?
I find open toe shoes better to get them used to wearing some thing on their feet
Put socks on for bed time. If they sleep in the socks they get used to the feeling
I used baby leggins under pants. They can't pull them off!!!
My girls love gum boots
When going put only put shoes on when you get to your destination.
Make up a funny song when putting the shoes on. "This is the way we put on our shoes, put on our shoes"
Once shoes are on, quickly use distraction to take their mind off wearing shoes
I only have shoes on DS1 if we are going outside and he will be walking, (we have no off street parking so I need him to walk so i can carry DS2) however often he pulls them off before I pick up DS2 off floor or bassinet and get to door!! Once in car he rips them off before i get into car!! Drives me insane sorry no advice just wanted you to know you are not alone!
my DS did the same thing he loved pulling his socks off and hated shoes so we got these soft soled shoes that are sort of hard lol he wore them for 3 days then he would wear the shoes i got for him without him scrunching his feet and now after 2 days hes fine with the shoes
I never had any problems getting DS to wear shoes, although when he was in the car he would always take them off as he liked playing with the velcro. He always wore socks to keep his feet warm since he was a baby so he is use to them too. Although he did go through a time where pulling them off was lots of fun. He has only ever worn shoes outside, but I have never had any major drama. Now he knows to put shoes on to go out and takes them off when he comes inside (he's 18mths). Getting them use to it early I think is the key.
But that doesn't help you now. However, I bought him squeaky shoes for his first shoes. They are light weight and soft-ish. He was about 11 mths old when I got them for him.
The squeaky noise when he walks might be enough to encourage him to keep them on. The noise isn't overly annoying, well I didn't think so, but you can actually take the squeaky piece out and he can wear them without noise. I found it did encourage my DS to walk. He did scrunch his toes up whenever I put shoes on him but only for the first few times, and as soon as I'd put them on and he walked a few steps he un-scrunched his toes. He does it with every new pair of shoes I buy for him. Its a normal reaction in kids so I wouldn't worry about that.
Anyway, maybe something like this would help to keep shoes on him. Just a thought.
