Activities to do as a family in Melbourne with a 2.5 & 11 month old

    Hey guys,

We have a week long festival, and DH has a week off work, so we are looking for some family day trips to do. They have to be suitable for a family with a toddler & baby (who will be in a pram, or in an Ergo), fun for us and them, and hopefully not cost too much. We wanted to go out Thurs and Sunday.

We have gone to the Collingwoods childrens farm in the past, which was great, and were thinking about trying Myuna farm this time. We did the zoo before, but DS didn't really much from it as everything was a bit hard for him to see.. i think in a year or two,

Can anyone recommend some great parks? Or anything else fun? He has a lot of energy

    Thanks.

There is a big park in st kilda that apparnatly has great play equipment.
Also botanical gardens or fitzroy gardens are nice for kids to explore and run around.
Aquarium, or werribee zoo (they r both fun and i have friends who 2 year old have loved it but depends on child)

maybe go to belgrave and onto puffing billy.

    good luck and enjoy

Chesterfield Farm is great - you can hop off Eastlink and be right there. The kids can feed the animals and get right up close. There are tables for lunch and plenty of hand washing facilties. I love the goats and the roos the best. Its open all week.

The Stringybark Festival is on out here in Rowville on Saturday and Sunday. There is great food, lots of sustainable living ideas - its great for kids and I'll be there at some stage, let me know if you wanna go.

Puffing Billy is great too. DS will love that.

Umm will come back later if I can think of anything else xoxoxoxoxxo

Myuna Farm is certainly worth a visit. It's cheap and great for littlies. We always have fun when we go there. You get really up close to all the animals there. Whenever we've been they've given us a loaf of bread to feed to the animals. Picnic & bbq facilities & a kiosk with basic snacks. If you go on Sunday you could drive a little further and go to the Berwick Market.

Lillydale Lake is nice. It's at Lilydale. Lots of play equipment - mostly for bigger kids but some stuff for the little ones. A lake with ducks. On weekends there's an iceream van and a coffee van. A great track round the lake to walk on with the pram. Great facilities for picnics. It's always been free when we've gone there.
