My 3month old DD has started making this straining noise, like she's constipated. She strains and straings, and often curls up (as if she has a stomach ache). She is exclusively breastfed, so I don't think she's constipated. Some of the time she eventually farts, or I burp her, and she stops, but a lot of the time, I can't figure it out. She rarely poos after, and if I pick her up, she just stops and is all happy. Even if I don't pick her up, and just distract her with a toy, she's all smiles again.
She does it all through the night too. She's normally a great night sleeper, just wakes up twice for a feed and goes straight back to sleep, now I constantly hear her straining. I tolerate it for a few mins, but after maybe 5 mins, I just get worried that it means something, and end up feeding her or changing her. It's getting really frustrating now, coz it's been happening for about 7 days now. Anyone got any ideas?
It could be just something new that she has discovered and when you respond she stops cause you distract her, and the farting could just be an occasional outcome cause she is straining and it forces it out. She obviously isnt to upset.
They are going to keep discovering all these things they can do with their body, some may seem weird to us, wait till they discover they can pull a face and hold their breath lol, DD1 used to freak me out with that one.
