Hi. I am new to this site and love the look of it. Would love to share stories with people with bubs around the same age as mine!
DEVELOPMENT
My bubs has been sitting since 5mths. He is not crawling but rolling and pulling himself all of the loungeroom floor. He can go from sitting to all fours, then onto the ground but can't move from lying down to sitting. But he can pull from sitting to standing but only on my lap. Not quite co-ordinated to do it on the furniture. It usually results in a stack! He stands holding on to the furniture though! He loves his walker an speeds around the house. When you hold his hands, he walks.
Bubs says dad, em (our dog - Gemma) and just started mum. He now waves but randomly! He CONSTANTLY talks with all sorts of strange sounds. And he has just starting "spitting the dummy" when you take something off him. He responds to his name and no.
ROUTINE
He is awake for 2.5hrs at a time and still has three sleeps a day. He sleeps through the night - well until the last week when he cut three teeth!!!
He has just dropped to five breastfeeds per day but want to drop to 4 in preparation for return to work.
He has three solid meals a day and a snack. He loves feeding himself. His pincer grip is brilliant and he feeds himself grated cheese, broken up toast, baked beans, shredded chicken.
WEIGHT
He is 8.6kg. His weight has slowed dramatically since 6mths!!!! Only put on 300g in the last two months. But he is a happy boy!
Thanks for sharing - can't wait to see what your bub is up to and what issues you face at the moment - may let me know what I have just around the corner!
I always love reading what other mums and bubs are up to, so here is our story;
DS has been rolling since 5.5 months, sitting up since appr. 7 months, crawling since 9 months and started to pull himself up on me last week. He loves walking when I hold his hands and stands up against the coffee table. Plenty of stacks as balance isn't great and he forgets to hold onto something. He has never been a great talker but the last few weeks he is starting to make more noises; smacking his lips for eating (even when the cats/dogs/horses are eating) and shouting when he sees something exciting. No words just yet. He is learning to wave atm; just puts his arm out and sometimes opens his hand. He throws hissy fits if I try to feed him something and he wants something else and when he doesn't respond to 'no' and I take him away.
He has two naps a day, usually awake for 2.5-4 hours and used to sleep well at night (12 hours with one night feed) but that has gone out the window for the last couple of weeks. He now sleeps reasonably well between 7pm and 12 and wakes up hourly after that. In the same time his daysleeps have increased from appr. 1 hour to up to 2 hours. At the moment in the process of reducing his day sleeps to see if his night sleep will improve.
He does not have any teeth yet. He eats 3 solid meals per day and 1 or 2 snacks. He does not like vegies, but he does eat them if they are mixed with rice cereal, so at the moment we are decreasing the amount of rice cereal slowly; so far so good. he loves his fruit, yoghurt, cheese and sandwiches and meat/fish.
I don't know what he is upto weight wise as he hasn't been weighed since 6 months, but we just went up to size 0 clothing, so I know he is growing (has always been in the lower percentage for weight). That's it for now, have to go wake bubby up!
By the way; the best way to catch up with mum with bubs the same age is to join the baby buddies group of the month your little one was born. You can find this in Baby & Toddler General discussion subforum Babybuddies (https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...-baby-buddies/)!!!
Welcome to BB
Flynn has been sitting up since 5.5 mths. He learned to sit up from laying down about 3 or 4 days before he started crawling. He started crawling at just before 8 mths. He pulls himself to standing a lot and he will walk if you hold his hands.
He eats 3 meal a day and sometimes has snacks, depends on how much he sleeps. He eats pretty well what we eat and he loves it! he is sleeping thru the night which is just grand
He is heaps of fun and a bit of mischief at the moment but I love it.
Like Esme said, join a belly buddies group. You will meet some great mums
