My son started babbling at 7 months. Before that he was just doing vowel type sounds. At 7 months we got dadada and things like that. We had this type of babbling for about a week then it stopped and my son is now doing squealing and vowel sounds again.
I read that this can happen when they are developing new skills but I can't really identify new skills other than he is balancing better when sitting unsupported.
Has this happened to anyone else? My worries about development stem from my nephew who has aspergers and an intellectual disability.
Hey hun, I wouldn't worry too much as he's just started babbling recently. With babies that age they can do something one day for a while and then stop it and then pick it up again some time later. I know it's really hard not to worry but if you still are, mention it to your MCHN. I think he's fine.
don't worry at all - DS has about 25 words but fluctuates a lot in how much he'll use them!!
some days all we'll get is "doggieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees!!" and "bubbles!" and other days everything is, "book! nana! dadda! up! more! milk!" etc.
extremely early, he'd even say, "hi, mum mum" or "hi, dad dad" and then he'd go for a week without calling me mum at all!
they're learning new things all the time, and testing out different noises and sussing out what reactions they get from all these different things ...
Thanks guys for your reassurance. Wouldn't you know it, just when I was stressed DS began stringing sounds together again and came out with dadadada tonight!!
