Bank fees....

Do you know how many "free transactions" you get each month through your bank / credit union ?

Just wondering if this is what lead you to decide to open an account at that particular bank or was it the overall package the bank offered ?

Doing a bit of research atm


P.s I am feeling like a thread killer atm so if even one person replies i will be pleased

All our accounts are with ANZ, with our personal accounts I think we get unlimited transactions, but with the business account there is a limit on how many EFTPOS, ATM withdrawals, cheque deposits etc you can do, and get charged for going over the limit...I think it's a bit OTT but seeing as all our other accounts are with them it just made sense. And after ongoing hassles with Commonwealth bank there is no way we will ever ever ever use them again!

I thin it's the overall package though, rather than just one specific thing.

We went with our bank because they have to be everywhere that we can be posted. We also dont pay an account keeping fee so I keep my transactions down to avoid fees. I think if I keep them down I pay like $1 a month for ATM access.

Bank West - they are great!

Pretty sure it's unlimited transactions, we can withdrawal from any of the major ATMs with no fee for it.

And they are open on Sat and Sunday all day which for us is great

Yes, I've been meaning to switch to bankwest for transaction & savings for a while - they have some really attractive products. The only problem is their IT systems are utter crap (probably goes for some other banks too). I spent nearly 2 hours there (all up) a while back and they still couldn't get the system to work and havent' had time to go back.

We were going to go to bankwest until commonwealth bought them out. Instead we switched (me from cwth, dh from anz) to NAB. We pay $10 a month for unlimited transactions (obviously we have to pay if using another ATM - but there are lots of redi-atm about these days - but rarely use cash and take it out at the supermarket if we do need it) BUT if we deposit I think it is $4000 a month we dont have to pay for it.

I looked into CUs and noone else could offer that kind of deal. Sure maybe they could offer lower rates on a personal loan or CC, but in the end if i was having to pay x amount per month for transactions it wasnt worth it for me!

With bankwest you only have to deposit 2000 per month to get free unlimited transactions. You can choose from interest with free withdrawals from ANZ, NAB and CBA/BW or no interest and free withdrawals from all major banks' ATMs.
