We are currently with AAMI for Car Insurance for 1 car and Swann Insurance for our 2nd car. Was not allowed to leave car yard without insurance and that is who Rebel Ford deal through.
So our AAMI insurance comes in today for our 4cyl and it is around $100 more a year than what our 6cyl is.
So needless to say we are looking at changing insurance companies. We are not sure if we want to go down the SWANN Insurance line as well with our 4cyl as we dont' really know what they are like.
So who are you with and what do you think (if you've had to deal with them claim wise)
My car we just recently changed from RACV to Youi as i only drive it around 7000km a year, it was much cheaper, DH is with RACV, you'll find the 4cyl is dearer because young people are driving them which = more crashes!! we had a V8 that was cheaper to insure than my mazda 323!
We are with AAMI and have actually found them quite reasonable compared to others, maybe if you called them and asked if there would be a discount if you had 2 policies with them?
We also have our house and business insurance with them so that may make a difference.
Used to be with RACV but we moved from 1 suburb to another 5min down the road and in a safer street and they started charging me $50 extra a fortnight.. WTF
All i can say is it pays to ring around, get quotes and sometimes call YOUR insurer back and say well RACV has offered me this rate, what can you do to keep me.
I am with RACQ and have always found them great to deal with - had one claim without any issues in them paying. I have a almost 3 year old 4 cylinder car and pay around $40/month - it is cheaper if you pay for the full year in advance though by about 6% I think it is.
AAMI have always been close toe twice the price when I've got a quote from them in the past - I think it really depends on what state you're in. I always do online quotes at a number of different places when the insurance comes due.
Yep I have done an online quote with Allianz, and it is $17 per month cheaper than AAMI.
~Zarava~ - Apart from our newish (well new to us) car, we already have everything with AAMI inc home and contents so already get discounts cause of that.
AAMI - happy to stay with them for now. Have had 2 claims with them in the past 8 years, both were handled very well and with no later increase to our policies. Found them so helpful when we moved and I went in to pay along with changing address. She did the right thing, changed our amount due to the move (got 12 months insurance for the price of 6!).
We go through the Police Credit Union - who affiliate with CGU. Its actually cheaper than going directly to CGU (not sure if that 'special' is only available to police or everyone though sorry).
