DD2 had surgery last year but I can't remember if they sent one out following the op

I was the same with my hospital admission for DD's birth, I really wanted to know! Not including OB fees, my stay in hospital etc was just under $5000!

Yes but it can take months to happen! I think it was 6 months before I got one for Dd's op.

I think part of it was due to how long it took the dr to submit his claim as well. He billed my phi direct and was fairly relaxed about it all.

I signed up to get them automatically with my health insurer (mutual community / bupa) ages ago.

They can take a month or two to come in.

yeah cos the hospitals bill the funds on a cycle, say monthly, your statement can take a while to come through but you will get one eventually.

dental surgery for DH and I (both within 6 months) was over 17k in charges to the PHI!

Got onto online statement today, I added all costs up and it came to $5200, $1050 out of pocket, not bad for $74 a month lol!

Hmmmmm, I'm curious to see how much Little Mister's birth hit them up for...must say though, we are with HBF and they were really good to deal with - hospital liaison took care of all the paperwork and even added DS to our policy straight away.

we got statements about 3 months afterwards when our twins were born
DS1 was in 3 different hospitals so they were all broken down
    for 3 hours in 1 hossy $6K
in RCH for 1 week $32K
and in Special care for 1 month- $36K
DD bill was only $30K in total as she wasnt as sick
Also the ambulance bill to transport him via nets from RWH to RCH and back ( about 1km journey) was $125K!!!

Most of this was covered but we were out of pocket a few thousand $$$ fo OB's, anethetists, etc
so we reckon we are in front with PHI and ambulance cover LOL
