We're currently paying $lots pm with Australian Unity for top cover. This was to cover us for homebirth. We're not likely to have a homebirth in future but may be going privately. Both boys were born in a public hospital anyway.
We do use extras like physio & acupuncture. Currently, I get back heaps per appointment, but it runs out by mid-year sometimes. I'll be looking at other Aust Unity cover but I'm interested in other options as well. Must include obstetrics cover. I assume as we're already covered, there wont be a waiting period.
I found the family NIB cover which includes OB to be stacks cheaper than all the other funds! But NIB do kinda suck. I was with AHM for about 4 years and after DS was born we wanted to cut back on the top cover. As it turns out we got to keep OB cover on the NIB plan anyway.
Just a quick word on the companies that do the comparisons for you are then recommend such as ISelect, they don't have all the plans that are available for each health fund, they tend not to have the most popular plans like the one we are on with NIB
I've been meaning to pull my finger out for ages and do this. I have NIB that I carried over from when I was under dads cover. But I was hoping to have something cheaper, and to have DH covered too cause atm he isn't covered at all.
Was just hoping for ambo cover, and I want to keep my eyes and glasses etc covered.
going to sus out this government website... hmmm
I havent had any issues with NIB though. Just I guess our needs have changed and instead of just sticking to the some company, its worth checking them all out
I have HCF and get a great deal for dental and chiro, which is all we have used it for so far. We got it because of the no excess on children's hospital stays and for boytwin this could be important as he is a magnet for hospitals.
Latrobe has been the most cost effective for us. We have basic hospital plus pregnancy. We're paying $158 per month - for the same thing with a more known fund, I was paying $190 18 months ago. I haven't claimed with them yet, but I'm finding them helpful over the phone.
Ahurani - our excess is $500. We got it organised through iSelect, so not sure if it makes a difference? All the paperwork that Latrobe sends us comes with a line at the bottom saying "office use: iSelect".
