    Question Tax question

    Howdy!

This financial year just ended is the first financial year EVER that I haven't earned any money - which is just strange since I've always had some kind of income since I was 14

So anyway - what do you do about a tax return if you don't earn any money? Does FAO send you out something if you are only receiving FTB A and B?

What do I do about the things that I usually claim in my name - ie, World Vision sponsorship? My medical expenses (I claim the $2000 my midwife charges)....

Do these things go off DH's tax return? Or do I just chuck these in the bin since I can't claim because I haven't any income? I'm confuzzled. Its hard having no income!!

Also - I've heard about a payment from the FAO at tax time per child? Can someone tell me more about this? Does everyone get it?

Sorry if these are really basic questions, but I've always gone to an accountant for my tax return, but thought there was no point if I can't/don't have to lodge a tax return this year.

Thanks in advance for any help!!

your medical expenses can go on your husband's return as well as any for the kids.....I am not sure about the charity stuff though....and no you do not have to lodge a return if youhad no income this last year.

Im pretty sure, (well I do this every year anyhow) I do etax, enter my details and one of the questions says do you need to lodge? I click no, then have to print out the paperwork and sign it and send it to the ATO.. Well that what I do, I figure at least that way I cant get into trouble!

You need to call centrelink and let them know that you wont be filing a tax return, otherwise your FBT supplements/top up payment will be delayed as they will be expecting your tax to be filed.

You cam advise of non lodgement online if you are signed up to the centrelink site.

The wait time on phones is massive this time of year.
