Birth Film In Bairnsdale - East Gippsland

I wasn't sure what section to post this in .....

    BIRTH FILM IN BAIRNSDALE

'The Business of Being Born' will be screened in Bairnsdale next Monday (December 8).

The East Gippsland Birth Support Group is showing the acclaimed documentary film at Bairnsdale Neighbourhood House at 10am.

'The Business of Being Born' is a film by renowned actress Ricki Lake and is directed by Abby Epstein. The film interlaces intimate birth stories with surprising historical, political and scientific insights and shocking statistics. It focuses on the US maternity care system but the questions of whether most births should be viewed as a natural life process, or whether every delivery be treated as a potentially catastrophic medical emergency are also applicable here.

The film morning is part of a series of gatherings to be held over the next few months providing information for birthing women and those interested in birth issues.

Birth Support Group member Tanya Garland said the gatherings would be guided by the interests of those attending but might include films and discussion topics with midwives.

'These sessions are aimed at building on the information available in the hospital classes and providing a relaxed, social occasion as well,' Tanya said.

Earlier in the month, a National Day of Action was held in Bairnsdale supporting the Federal Government's rural maternity services review agenda.

There will be a $3 cover charge for the venue hire.

Contact phone numbers are available from Bairnsdale Neighbourhood House for those interested in the film morning or future events.

    HELL YEAH There is!!!!

The link in my signature will take you to the BellyBelly online store, directly to TBOBB and you can purchase it

Otherwise... maybe try your local library? Not sure where you could hire it from!

Good luck, it is a fantastic documentary and an AMAZING view at choice surrounding birth. I truly loved the film and Abby Epstein's pregnancy and birth made it so much more personal.
