Hey facebook, what have you done?

I have just realised my facebook has been moderated:o

A photo of the pregnant woman, topless but with her hands covering her breasts, has been moderated. It is the same photo that was on Kelly's profile.

Directly above was a similar photo, except the woman has a lustful expression and is not pregnant. It remains on my profile despite being linked to a group called T I T S where the members comments are all either Bevis and Butthead style "snigger, booobs" comments, or links to websites intended to embarrass a woman apparently guilty of infidelity. I have reported this group and the comments DAYS AGO yet it still remains and Kelly is gone.

I am (almost) lost for words. Really.

i wish some one one would take face book to court with some of the adds that they allow! they're bordering on porno! they're also allowing underaged girls to expose more boobage then i would if i was bfing. YET it is allowed? and the quizes (like the one kelly pointed out) are allowed!

i think facebook is run by a bunch of men who think boobie = sex. maybe in a few years once they grow up and maybe even become fathers they'll open their eyes up to it and realise boobie = food. GAH. maybe if some one was to write to Mr Obarma he'd make them allow bfing :rofl: but STOP WITH THE SMUT! :wall:

I think an email off to A current Affair might be in order. They would love a story like this.

According to my DH, that is exactly why it was set up, by some US college blokes to perve on women I believe :rolleyes: Don't know how DH found that out, but that's what he told me. He won't use it, calls it Farcebook LOL

Some of the stuff that is allowed up there is positively sickening :( but unless people leave the site in droves, what motivation is there for them to change? The double standards of FB are appalling.

Disgusting! What is with FB?
I saw someone commented on a friend of mines post the other day and their profile pic was of Lara Bingle completely topless... she still has that pic up and FB have not done a thing to remove it. I guess breasts are not meant to be used for what they're made to do, they must be made for FB perves & skanks to put up as their profile pics :(

Why not start a Get Up campaign? I think it would be interesting to get them on TV and get their Aus spokesperson to state exactly what it is about bf that they find offensive and call them out on the double standard. Perhaps even get the ABA involved as well.

I totally agree there is a double standard and it is outrageous that breastfeeding photos get removed / moderated.

However I do think that should never link to material you find offensive even if it is to point out the double standard, because all it does is give that material more hits (often pages will give you info on how many people have linked to them for example and then these stats can be used to sell advertising on that page). It may be that, that link to the sex quiz drew attention to Kelly's page which resulted in it getting moderated (which is why lots of other BF images still there) - it wouldn't surprise me given the scale of facebook if they use some algorithms which look for words like sex and breast to help them moderate, as they must have mountains of reports to go through.

Breastfeeding pictures should be allowed full stop, whether or not other images of boobs are allowed or not, in my mind they are completely unrelated things and sometimes I think drawing the parallel between breastfeeding and other graphic images even when it is to show the double standard - relates them in some peoples minds (and for example in a computer algorithm) and can be unhelpful.

Hope Kelly gets her page back soon.

:o thats pathetic! isn't that some kind of lie if they say they want the world to be more "open" and connected. surely thats not right. if they where "open" then bf would be ok! grrr stupid facebook! if they took down the photo of me bfing my DJ - i'd sue them for discrimination - if they are willing to allow - and support near pornographic ads YET they willnot allow a photo of a women feeding her baby(s) then thats discrimination. not to mention sexist- because if a women cannot show her CHEST not her nipple, yet a man CAN show his nipple thats not fair!

i agree on the todaytonight/ACA they'd have a field day - who knows it might end up like the whole Scientology saga they're pushing ATM...plus i'd love to see the face book peoples faces if they came face to face with a women bfing! ...maybe a whole lotta people who bf should rock up to Facebooks HQ and bf and ask if they find it obscene!
