Want to get all activism-y about this - who's with me?

And, of course, how do I do it without attracting a media circus?

The midwife I saw on Monday was really nice, but I'm stewing on something she said. I'm a wonderful strong person who knew what she wanted and was on her way to having a good labour (although she did say maybe the same would have happened at home anyway - which is a lie)... but the reason I wasn't listened to was because I was a first-timer. With a second (yeah right that's going to happen) then I'd be listened to more because I'd know what I was doing. A lot of midwives just dismiss first-timers.

Now, I knew what I was doing. The midwife at the time commented on the fact my body knew what it was doing. To be told what happened happened just because I was a primagravia is just maddening. (So to all those who think second-timers just "grow balls" to get what they want, that is not right too.)

So how can I change this stupid system? Short of murding all midwives and obstetricians and just letting women do as nature intended naturally and well and without stupid people ruining their life for them? Oh yes, and how to do it without going too public as there's the whole DH-job-privacy issues to coontend with too.

    Thanks.

Late-pg brain, sorry, Ryn - what are you asking for?
These sound like weak justifications to me for treating a first timer like crap, grrr...
