Announcing the arrival of Amaya Alexia born yesterday lunch time after a long, difficult labour. Unfortunately I had to transfer at 10cms giving up my much dreamed of home water birth, but after a posterior presentation (face up) and an arm up - no urge to push just searing, insane contractions - the pain was too intense and I felt something wasnt right, so wanted to go in. 10lbs, 9oz and 55cms, a far cry from my prior 5 & 6lbers! She was loads of hard work but so worth it - adorable and feeds like shes been doing it for years. Plan on going home today and having a very peaceful babymoon and recovering - have two grazes and one tear which we are pretty sure are from her hand. Had a little gas when I got in to hospital and they ruptured the membranes to get me pushing. The gas made me puke, but otherwise got through with most of what I wanted - delayed cord clamping etc. Was a bit traumatic but will process with my midwife Tuesday.
Thanks to everyone for their support and advice, especially the mod team, homebirth group and August group xxx
