    24 April 2011 Announcing Elliot Pasaka, Our Easter Surprise

    Elliot Pasaka (Swahili for Easter) came 4 weeks early at 8:48 am Easter morning.He weighs 3040g/6lbs 11.5oz and is 48cm long.

    He's gorgeous and doesn't look premature but has been on oxygen for rapid breathing, a sugar drip for low sugar levels, and antibiotics after a chest x-ray showed shadows which could be an infection. He's expected to stay in the hospital for 1 week and may come off the oxygen as early as the morning, at which point I can start breastfeeding him. It's so strange giving birth, especially so much earlier than expected, and then giving the baby away. At least I'm catching up on my sleep.
