On the 11th of October, 2006, the latest addition to the Jones Family was born,
Olivia Rose Jones :female:
Olivia Rose was born into water at home, at 4:15 am in the morning, into the loving arms of her family. She was born 11 days overdue, after a wait which drover her family mad.
Victoria’s waters broke at 12:55 am, and she began labouring at home. We were shortly joined by Victoria’s mother. Presently after that, we were joined by Olivia, our treasured friend, midwife, and eventual namesake to our new daughter.
After a short intense labour, Olivia Rose was born into water at 4:15 am, in the spa we had installed specifically for such an occasion ($800 well spent!) She was guided out by her mother, as the rest of us looked on, and swam for a moment, until she was put to the breast. Her mop of jet-black hair was a shock to us all! She drank, and then watched quietly as events unfolded around her.
At birth, Olivia Rose weighed 3,350 grams, or 7 lb 6 oz. She was 50cm long, which makes her ¾ of a kilogram and one centimeter shorter than her sister. Her head was 35cm round, which makes it the same size as Molly’s head, although Victoria assures us all that it felt much, much bigger on the way out.
Molly slept through the event, but was terribly excited to wake up the next morning and discover her new baby sister had been born. She loves her baby sister “Givva”, and enjoys nothing more than giving her a “cuggle”. She is also quick to inform us whenever Olivia Rose is “’kying”.
Olivia Rose means “Of the olive branch and the rose blossom.” In the language of flowers , it means “Peace and love, beauty and youth”.
We would like to thank everyone who has sent their good wishes and flowers. We would especially like to thank Victoria’s mother, Ann, for sharing in this wondrous experience with us, and for her support throughout what has been a difficult pregnancy; our close friend and midwife Olivia, who was willing to be there for us when others could not; and Robyn, one of the midwives who tended to us when Molly was born, who happened to be holidaying in Port Macquarie and has generously offered her time and assistance.
