Has anyone finished watching yet? 2 hours is a fair slog... I've watched 1 1/2 hours so far.

I think maybe it's trying to be too much but there are SO many great points being made. I've nodded my head so much. I love all the stuff about attachment and how important birth is for that. I want to revise my birth story now and include how my H was involved- I feel bad I overlooked how important that is to the story.

Yep, i watched it all this morning while tie dying clothes and making cherry ripe balls. It covered heaps and i found myself nodding my head at so many things and wondering why everyone doesn't 'get it'.

Some of the key points it makes are that medicalised birth harms babies. Suctioning babies etc is assaulting the baby. It discusses how this is bad for baby and to be seperated from mum at birth causes attachment issues. Also discusses trauma for mum and particularly dad. Father's role as protector is violated by watching mum & baby assaulted in a way he would never allow at any other moment in their lives. Says birth care providers need to change the way they do things. Also discusses absent fathers and the disconnect fathers have which can be changed by better empowering fathers at birth.

I have no idea why they dont get it Kate Watching that mother saying no while they cut the cord and take her baby is awful.

It was well worth watching, although obviously very biased. I do feel some of her very valid and important points were a bit lost in the style. If it's aimed at men I really hope the interviews with men are prominent. Don't know how much sense I'm making this late!

Yep- that's what I meant about trying to be too much. I wonder if with more editing she'll cut some "issues" and come back to the men and their experiences at birth.
