39 Weeks +1 and Labour Seems To Be Nowhere In Sight...

    Hey All,
I had an OB appt this morning and I was hoping for some better news. I thought with this being my third baby that things may be a little quicker than the other two (both 10 days overdue) My OB is starting to get a bit concerned about the size of the baby and is now talking about inducing me on the 11th (5 days after my due date) and I am worried about it. My first was induced and it was a 36 hour labour . I went in naturally with my second and by the time I got to the hospital I was 8 cm dialated and had her just over 2 hours later. Apparently this one is 3/5th engaged (I dont really know what this means lol) and my OB also did an internal which was rather uncomfortable and she said that my cervix was still really far to the back and that she couldnt really get to it properly.

I just feel so uncomfortable and now I feel deflated to the point of blurgh lol. Oh the OB also did an US and this bub is measuring at 4 kilo's already (close to 9 lbs)

Sorry for the whinge lol at least the bub is healthy.

I went over with my 2nd bub.....bub never engaged, i kept being told i was having a big baby (and she was only 7lb 12oz)...

All i can say is hang in there...bub will come when its reeady....u might be surprised how quickly you can go from 'no sign of baby'..to 'in labour'.

    All the best

Do you have to be induced only 5 days over? Will he wait longer?

If your last baby's were overdue, fair chance that this one could be too...maybe your OB would be willing to wait till your are 2 weeks overdue to give your body time if you are scared about it? Sounds like being over a week over is normal for you.

your just like me! you bake your babies well done style!
i wouldnt worry about any thing until you hit that 10 days over mark!
perhaps question why your ob wants to induce you when you obviously have41+3 pgs? is she going away?
your body definatly knows what its doing! you have done it 2 time before

As far as I know the only reason that she wants to induce me is that so the baby isnt as large as my previous 2 (4570 grams and 4630 grams) and this one seems on target to be more than that. I just dont want to have an awful labour experience after having such an awesome second natural labour with no drugs at all compared to my first which was a traumatic event that ended with me having gas, 2 shots of pethadine, an epi and still needing a vacuum extraction.

I guess it's just a game of wait and see.

i dont know but like you i also go very over due and have been induced 4 out of the 5 times and am 32+5 weeks with bub number 6 and fully expect to be induced again all mine were 14 days over and the last 2 were over 9lbs almost 10 and i had a sizing scan done last week and bub is alread 5lbs and 5oz and i think i will beg them to induce me as close to my due date as possible ,my first induction wasnr fantastic but the rest were great all done with out pain relief and all under 3 hours so if it dose come to an inducion dont panic i know most people find them bad but for a lot of people they arnt that bad.
