Should I call the midwife? Possible slowly leaking amniotic fluids....
Last night after I went to the toilet I felt a warm trickle, very small gush of fluid and my undies were a bit wet, even after I'd just wiped from going to the toilet.... I thought oh maybe it's just my weak pelvic floor muscles but nope this was different.
It happened again so I smelt it and it doesn't smell at all like urine. It's odourless.
It happened again tonight after visiting the toilet.... I've got a pad on now.... doesn't smell like urine. I put my hand there and ran it across my vagina (if you know what i mean lol) and wiped it with my hand and my hand became really quite wet!!!
you know how they say go with your gut feeling.... it seems to be this could be amniotic fluid slowly leaking.... I haven't had a big gush or pop feeling or anything. It only seems to happen at the same time the baby is jumping on my cervix!!!! Like its punching it or something.....
I'm 3 weeks from my due date and have had quite a few prelabour pains the last week too.....
Do you think just ring the MW in the morning? I don't know if I need to ring her now or just leave it for the morning?? Only thing I'm worried about is that I tested positive for group B strep last week and just concerned.
BUT I've also read that your amniotic fluids can slowly leak out but reseal and replenish, is that right????
I'm pretty sure this is what happened last time too leading up to DD's labour. I never had a huge gush of fluids in labour, just a small trickle during labour though.
I would put a pad on an see how long it takes before you need to change it. If it's a relatively small amount of time then i'd be calling just to make sure.
I would give the midwife a call. She will be able to talk you through a few things and help you decide if you need to head in to hospital or not. Good luck!
When in doubt just ask. Just remember though, when you call, you might have to have a few tests and be put on a time limit to go into labour. So be ready for that too. Goodluck
If only this baby would stop pushing/kicking down on my cervix!! Every time it moves and does that it feels like slightly more oozing out..... ahhh, what to do..... wish pregnancy wasn't so full of worry
It's possible the baby could be kicking my pelvic floor muscles (which aren't very strong mind you ) and therefore I'm leaking a bit of urine? Possible? Maybe it is just urine
Thanks girls. Still deciding what to do. It's eased off for now.....
I'd give them a call, you will likely have to go and get it checked out, whether it's now or in the morning. If you are leaking amniotic fluid, you will need to have antibiotics if you tested positive to strep b. When I was pg with my DD I slowly leaked for a few days and wasn't aware it was an issue until I went in for a checkup and ended up being given IV antibiotics and being induced the next day. I was 37 1/2wks pg though, so a little further than you. Good luck hun. Try not to worry, I'm sure all will be well, but better to be safe, you know...???
Hi don't know a lot about strep B or any complications I can cause but I would either ring your midwife and ask the question or else ring Health Direct which is a 24 hour health line which is staffed by nurses to ask them what (if anything you should do). Their number is 1800 022 222. Free service and I've used them and found them really good and its nice to get reassurance on whether you should call an expert of not. Not certain where you are based but fairly sure they are national. Am sure it will be okay but a phone call will make you feel at rest as to whether you need to do anything or not. You're practically considered to be full term anyway even if you did have to have bub now.
Ok, so I rang my midwife and another midwife answered (mine is off for the night) and I explained it and he said (male midwife) just put a pad on and if I'm soaking the pad then I need to call back and then obviously come in but if it's not soaking then leave it for the morning and see how I feel in the morning. Ring back then if I want to he said. I told him I tested positive to GBS and he said that's a concern only if the pad is soaked in which case it's definitely amniotic fluid if that was happening.....
He said it could be a hind water leak. Which is The trickle of fluid happens when there is a break in the amniotic sac up higher in the body of the sac instead of below the baby's head.....
I'm off to bed.... wish me luck over night hoping it doesn't happen again as I'd really like to take my DD to the playschool concert in May before this baby is born!!
Still here girls Doesn't seem to have happened again since so I'm not too concerned at this stage..... just keeping a close watch on things. Fingers crossed I'll make this playschool concert in a couple of weeks time with DD!!
I went three days with a slow leak, easing each day until it had resealed. They prefer you to get it checked out even if it turns out to be nothing rather than leaving it and it becoming more serious, especially if an infection gets in there. Once it has properly stopped leaking though, there isn't really anything that they can do to check it.
