Question This may seem like a stupid question...

    therefore.. it probably is... lol

But what happens to your plug when you have a c-section? Its not the doc goes rummaging in your basement region to pull it out - and I didn't notice it after either my c-sections (and my blood loss wasn't massive...)

I too have no idea so maybe not such a stupid question after all...

I would say that it would pass with the blood loss after birth....

BTW when I have lost my plug I would berely know I have its just like a really have CM when I Ov so not that big a deal for me I am never even sure if thats what it is, as I never have a bloody show...

Mel honey things must be real slow at the office if you're pondering such questions!
Just to say I have no clue, just here for moral support like SamiH! Personally I didn't have a c=sect but my plug was so minimal I certainly wouldn't have noticed it if it came out afterwards....

i didnt even notice a plug with either of my pg's. first sign of labour for me was waters breaking both times.... before that ... nothing... so maybe some people have a big plug and some people have a little plug and some people have a medium size plug and .... i wonder if some people have almost no plug???????

yep, things are pretty slow here too today...

I *think* I read somewhere they suction you out a little, and since you had only a small blood loss after, maybe you were "cleaned out" a little???

I am not sure.. but you know what I have always wondered,,

Why don't they give all the innard bits a good clean out so you don't get PP bleeding at all lol...

like i don't know what they would do but wouldn't you think someone would work something out so us poor in pain new mummies don't need to worry about bleeding

I was wondering the same thing!!! And I dont know but I *think* I lost mine at some point, about 5 days after the c-sect... TMI WARNING.... I had a large amount of very stringy gross yicky discharge with my lochia, and I assumed it was the plug???

NIC - I think they did suction me out I was all concerned about dealing with bleeding and had virtually none! I think I used about 3 -4 pads and that was me trying to use them since I`d brought the blimmen things

Good question lovely! I never had a show with Izzy before or after, and this time around lost it early on before my c/s but Im assuming that if it hasn't come out, then its "inside" still and would get cleaned up when they take out the placenta etc after bub is out!??? I had blood loss for 6 weeks with Izzy and still have a teeny bit now but that is because of the uterus still shrinking I think!

Mel... can't say I've ever thought about that, but didn't see my plug with either .... Oskar though I'm guessing it would've been when they broke my waters, but Joshua... hmmmmm ...!! Love your brain,

They sort of scrape round under the membranes and placenta with their hands and lift it all out and i would imagine for those who weren't in labour the plug comes out stuck to the outside of the lower portion of the membranes.

FWIW i had a spontaneous labour and a vaginal birth and no-one saw any plug apart from after a sweep 3 days before she was born i saw a small amount of snotty stuff - like the size of my thumbnail...

I think we are scared to ask questions cos we don't want people thinking we are stoopid...lol

I'm normally quite intelligent - just don't know much about labour/birth...lol

ahh, I dont worry about people thinking Im stooopid. You dont learn if you dont ask

I had a c.sect with no labour so Hoobleys discription could explain why I never saw a 'snot ball' or had hardly any lochia bleed etc after.
