How long do you think you will be in hospital?
If your hospital discharges within 24 hours after birth then one packet is ample. If you are planning to stay longer then you might need more.
Maybe take 2 packets and if you're running low ask someone to bring/buy you more.
Thanks Leckert, I've been stocking up so have plenty (been buying a pack each time I shop), but wasn't sure how many to take with me.
Onyx - as short as possible, I want to be home for DS as soon as practical, but thinking if possible 2-3 days max. DS was in the SCN so I was happy to stay longer last time, this time I am hoping all is good and we can head home as a family pretty quick - Fingers Crossed!
So if I pack 2-3 packs I should be be right by the sounds of it (I can always get DH to bring some in, just needed a ball park!)
I was in hospital for just over 24 hours with DD2 and very little bleeding. I used cloth pads, and probably about 4 a day (maternity sized ones).
With DD1, a CS, I bled very little as well, but used sposie pads, the purple maternity ones, and still only went through about 4-5 a day, for the first 2-3 days.
Even so, they weren't EVER 'full', I changed tehm purely due to hygeine reasons, but regular pads would have surficed.
Both times I could have used regular pads, not surfboards, and would have been way more comfortable!!
I ended up using medium sized cloth pads after I cam home from hospital with DD2 and they were much better size. Personally, I wouldn't waste money on maternity pads. Buy 1 pack or some extra long super (Libra do them) and then send hubby out to but maternity ones when - and IF - you need them.
I took two packs in for my second birth so I was well prepared, but only stayed 7 hours before I was home having kebabs on the couch and watching the footy. My team won too! Good memory, CARN THE EAGLES!!
