    Question about knickers!

Im just wondering if anyone can pls tell me what knickers u packed for ur hospital stay??

I have heard the tighter and more granny like the better as it helps the uterus contract back in but not really sure what size or brand to get?? Im also a bit worried if i do get really tight ones i will feel uncomfortable and get cramps from having the knickers constantly digging into me?? I know when i have worn those special suck in fat pants i have always been super uncomfortable!

Or wld u guys just recommend getting knickers i wld normally wear in a bigger size so it fits a pad comfortably?? I dont want to have a sagging bottom tho!

Sorry i know this is a silly thread but Im really stuck!

    Thankyou!!!

OMG how cute is your ticker pic! NO more photos people!!!! Cute as!
Anyway I just bought my normal sized knicks but in a full brief whereas I would normally wear bikini cut or boy leg. I had a c/s though but they were good for pads for a few weeks and later on I wore those tight granny ones with a support panel in them because of my c/s scar. Hth!!

I got myself some Bridget Jones undies, but I was already wearing them through my pregnancy as I hate low cut undies they slip into my old C-Sec scar.

Get something thats not too tight but firm, you'll want something to help hold up those hospital "70's malibu surfboard" sized pads
Targets full briefs are good and they seem to hold their shape well, I still have mine and wear them despite the weight change!

Bonds boy leg.. or the target version of them (theyre a bit cheaper). Make sure they have the thicker elastic stuff around the leg part and get 2 sizes bigger than you normally do. I had a natural birth and found these great as they held your pad in place and were still comfortable. Not sure how they would go after a c/s but natural they were great.

And get them in black so that they don't show the stains!

I wore regular hipster style knickers apart from with the twins when I was leaking fluid, when I wore some incredibly attractive hospital issue disposable pants. It was an awesome look! After the first VE when in full on labour the knickers got abandoned and I just went commando, much more comfortable and practical

ETA after labour I wore big pants, don't worry about them being tight. Yout uterus will contract back on it's own without the use of knickers, and if you have a CS then tight ones might be uncomfortable.

i just used my regular everyday ones (by that time the g's were packed far FAR away!! still are!)
as for being tight arround the tummy, i went to the physio class in the hospital and they gave me a elastic belly band to help suck it all in and hold the pelvic/belly muscles in, your hospital might do something simmilar? i foulnd it to tight tho so only wore it once.

hmmmm I really should buy more undies. I still have the granny undies from 2 years ago when I had Iain! but I guess they will do as my chuck away in case of leaks. But I would just go normal size with a little bit of lycra blend to help hold the pads in place.

I got $1 undies from target and took like 10 pairs thinking i woukd change them as they got wet/dirty... But I ended up starkers!! Lol and now have 9 unused ones cause they were cheap uncomfy ones....

Go for comfort!! So get some lovely soft bamboo undies in your pregnancy size, boyleg i found were best cause they had a wide crotch for the pads to fit.

Sent from my iPhone so sorry for the spelling and punctuation!!

I second the $1 undies! I also got mine from Target, but I'm sure Best and Less have cheap ones too ! The ones I wore during labour, I didn't even realise they were off until after DD was born and the midwife asked me where I wanted them... I told her to throw them

Haha, those pads are so huge that ANY kind of knickers you wear, those pads will stick out a few feet back and front of your undies

Myself, I do belive I brought my biggest pair of underpants to the hospital, just for that reason. Wasn't there long though to use the surfboards ... erm ... 15 hours or so I think ... home is so much nicer.

    Hey reet...

Yeah i know which ones you're talking about. You can get the proper ones from the net but i think they were $250.00 a pair..and then what about washing them.............or you can get the proper ones from myer, target, kmart which are cheaper etc.....but they can be a tad uncomfy...i used them after DD..i got used to them after a while tho and ahd a couple pairs....i found the ones that came right under the boob (so they didnt roll down) and nicker style the best for me..i didnt like them coming down the leg because they would roll up and show my bits of fatty leg under jeans.........i would get them maybe a size or two bigger to what you think you will be...coz they are quiet tight but are meant to be to hold you in....and you will loose alot of the belly and you need it fairly tight to hold the uterus in and then you can wear them after if you feel uncomfortable about you're belly....i lived in them...then i couldnt NOT wear them because i hated the muffin top..lol

I wore the Bridget Jones type... very comfy.

As for pads, I highly recommend you take your own. I have discovered that the Poise pads, which are designed for incontinence, are MUCH better than maternity pads. They are thinner and heaps more comfortable but absorb heaps of fluid if your lochia is heavy. I can't remember what absorbency I used, maybe 'regular'?? They are also designed to absorb odour so no manky smell...

I bought the 5 pack nanna knickers, one pack of each in sizes 12, 14 and 16, as well as two pairs of suck-in-your-tummy Bridget Jones style ones in size 14, which I loved. Didn't use them all, but soooooooo good to have them.

    Wearing a pair now

yeah i bought a cheap pack of larger sized undies... opened fresh at the hopsy aaahhhh and I also took my man jocks... I wear man undies later in pregnancy when things are... swollen too much for comfort in women's undies iykwim (ball room hahahahah) lol. Just laying on your tummy a couple of times a day will help your belly love. I would personally go for undie comfort over cervix reduction

I just took my regular bikini undies but had to get DH to go and buy me full briefs because i had an emergency c-section and my others were rubbing on my scar. Just a cheap pack from target and threw them out after i finished with them. hth
