Anterior placenta = posterior labour?

Hello

I'm totally ignoring the fact that bubs is breech because the stubborn bugger will turn

However I did come across something on the net that suggested if you have an anterior placenta - you are more than likely to have a baby that is posterior.

Just thought I would get some opinions on this - and how accurate it is - and if it wasn't accurate for you - what did you do to make it NOT posterior?

I had an anterior placenta with my second and he was LOA at birth, so not posterior, he was also breech until 35 weeks and then turned. Look at spinning babies, there are heaps of positional things you can do to encourage baby in the right position. Hope that helps!

i had an anterior placenta, and didnt have any trouble with posterior labour. i spent most the last month either sitting on a big birthing ball or on my knees leaning over a chair. evey time i sat back she would move in to a really painfull position on my spine!!

True for me. Didn't know bubs was posterior til the birth, but although the back pain was baaad during labour, I didn't feel the need for drugs beyond gas. Water is your friend

I had an anterior placenta and no prosterior labour here... not sure what I did haha

i asked this question too as i had an anterior placenta with millie too, she was never posterior!!

i had an anterior placenta with DD2.
laboured with her anterior and just as the pushing started she turned posterior!! little bugger!
dont know if this has anything to do with the placenta but worth noting i guess.

i asked my midwife the same thing because i kept hearing that anterior placenta ment a higher chance of a posterior baby. she said that theres a higher chance of labouring posterior but only a small percentage of women birth a posterior baby because they turn on there way out.
dont know how true that is, worth keeping in mind though

I didn't have an anterior placenta. Sam was never posterior through the whole pregnancy... until my waters broke.

Fortunately, he only stayed posterior up until they put me on my knees over the end of the bed - he turned around quite nicely then. Posterior labour up until 5cm, then when he turned we went from 5cm to pushing in two contractions.

Definitely look into the ways you can encourage bub to turn the right way before labour. At least then you'll be able to say you did everything you possibly could to try.

My placenta was anterior with J & she was anterior also right up until labour & then flipped around. Something seems to cause my babies to go posterior during labour but I don't think it's the anterior placenta.

I had anterior placenta with Miss J and Mr Z...but never a posterior bub

Posterior labour and placenta was not anterior. My sister had an anterior placenta and not a posterior bub.

FWIW - My bub flipped whilst I was in labour, surprised the MW and whilst it was painful it was fine. Good luck!

Was true for me, I think he started to turn as he came out, but didnt make it right round. The middies and then 3 obs all had thier hands "in there", and none of them could figure out which way he was facing.LOL I dont know it I made labor any harder, but I do know on my back was the only "comfy"possie, anything else was excruciating back pain. It certainly didnt seem to affect him at all (HB etc) but may be part of the reason for the vacum. It was fine tho, I wouldnt be worried if I had another posterior bub.

oops i lied millie was posterior around the 20 week mark as she had her face squashed into the placenta so we couldnt get any good photos, she turned though

I've been crawling on the floor after the kids a lot lately, so hopefully that will help turn bubs as well as put it in a good position.

Gee I wish I knew the sex so I could stop calling it "it"...
