Anyone had a very quick labour followed by a longer labour?

I've just realised that I've been preparing myself for a very quick labour this time around, my first labour was only 2 hours and I have been told that I should expect it to be quicker this time around, which is a little scary!

But I was wondering has anyone had a very quick first labour (ie. under 3 hours) followed by a longer second labour?

I know that anything is possible when it comes to labour and birth, but I just thought I'd put my curiosity to rest and ask the question

I'm just tapping in here to see what others come up with. I'm curious too as DS1 was 8.5hr then DS2 was 3.5hrs middies actually joked i should come in as soon as i start to get contractions.

Curious too. DD was only 9hrs total.....been told this one to expect half that time so about 4hrs!

I have heard "most" seem to have shorter subsequent labours YET you still hear of stories where 2nd etc labours were longer.

My DD was induced, 5 hour labour (from first contraction to birth)

My DS was natural, 25 hour labout (from firs contraction to birth)

DS's birth was so much better than DD's Have my 25 hour labour again anyday!

    I'd like to know too!
DS my labour was 3 hours (I was induce tho, but it was still an incredibly easy labour) and I am a bit nervous that this next one might not be such a dream! XD

Yes! Both induced, but Ianto was 6h from first contraction (45m officially ) and Amelia was 18h (7h "officially", and omg that's the first time I've counted it up!)

And that's with MORE induction techniques used with Amelia.

Sent from my iPhone so forgive the speelung misstacks

I am also wondering what this labour will be like. DD was 7 hrs induced and DS was 3hrs 20 mins. I am hoping for another labour the same as DS's. I am really hoping that it isnt quicker

My second labour was longer as dd was posterior and not putting pressure on my cervix to help me dilate. But stage 2 was only 10 minutes, much quicker.
I think generally speaking subsequent labors are quicker but things like position of baby can effect that.

My first wasn't really fast (8.5 hrs), but my 2nd was a lot longer due to DD's funny presentation (30-odd hours). So sometime it just depends on position/presention like JM says. I think given that her head was sideways that I did pretty well pushing her out in around 30 minutes.

DD1 waters broke around 4am. Mild contrctions, Synto started at 10am, Synto stopped at 2pm, due to no progression. Then things started to happen and DD1 was born at 5:34pm so was classed at a 3.5 hour labour.

DD2 first contraction at 4am and 22.5 hours later she was born.

DD1 labour was good but DD2 was a great labour, even if it was longer.

    Ds1 3.5 hrs
    Ds2 10.5 hours

I was told not to stay home at all and dh was even told to read up on delivery! So that made the 10 hrs seem REALLY long!

my three labours where all spontaneous. First one from first contraction to baby 1hr 50minutes second baby from first contraction 50minutes third baby six year gap just under two hours from first contraction. If it is spontaneous it should be as quick if not quicker than your first.
