Because the woman filmed it, edited it and designed it herself, and she can only make them in small runs as she doesn't have/use a commercial company to distribute it - its so expensive. She does it all herself and has to cover her own costs, and it's her income. I wouldnt think she would make much per DVD and they don't sell in stores, so its not like she sells heaps.
Its excellent quality, not like those dodgy ones you see at hospitals - all those who have seen it above I think prove thatMany birth / baby / breastfeeding DVDs are priced high. I know a breastfeeding one that is $125 and comes very highly recommended.
